I cant believe this happened but it did. The metal pin part of what goes into my computer to attach my speakers to my computer has broken off. It is now stuck inside and now I have no audio for my computer. Has anyone heard of this happening before and what to do about it. Some info I got suggested that i use super glue on the end of a toothpick. OR assuming I can never get this metal out of my audio jack is there anyway to replace the mic and speaker jacks without buying a whole new computer. B/c im thinking they are mounted to the motherboard and therefore cannot be replaced. I hope this is not true. Or perhaps I could some how reroute the audio using a USB device???

You can just buy a PCI sound card that will replace the sound that is built into the mobo. A simple sound card can be had for less than $20.

It's not impossible to fix. It's happened to me before, but on a radio not a computer.

My reply isn't for the faint of heart or for a computer that is still covered by a warranty.

-Shut down the computer and disconnect all the wires from the tower.
-Place the tower in a well lit area so you can work on it.
-Remove the side panel from the computer case
-Locate the audio jacks inside the box

You are lucky if they are not enclosed connections ... better yet on a sound card that you can remove to work on. Otherwise you'll need to uncover the jacks. They may have a plastic box over them. Once the jack is exposed...

-Use a small screwdriver or needle nose pliers to push the broken pin out of the case.

If that's too scary... you can install a PCI sound card in an open slot.

well buddy the manufacturer sound output plugs ARe mounted to the motherboard. so either buy a new computer or just a new sound card and install the soundcard this will automatically divert the sound output to the soundcard instead of the manufacturer output plugs.

in case you stumble on which you cant get it out, you could %. up a PCI soundcard very value effectively. fit it into one in each and every of your spare bays interior your laptop (determine mahcine is grew to become off first) and set up the drivers if a CD got here with it. you will ought to disable the onboard sound interior the BIOS first. undemanding to do, on bootup, enter the bios and seek for sound, replace it to be disabled so as that the recent card doesnt conflict.
