I'm 47. I'm working two jobs - manual labor. One job has 401k, but I can't invest in it at this time. I'm working 70 hours per week - it's just making me feel old and tired. I rent and live alone. I'm paying down two significant older debts. There are other debts I'm putting on the back burner. I pay child support - I just got caught up to date with that payment. I don't have a tv, or any expensive toys. Car repairs have taken a big chunk of my income - and I still need to do more just to make my old car safe.

Talk to a debt counsellor. They may be able to help you re-schedule your payments, so that you do not have to work 70 hours/week.

Get re-trained for a different job that pays more and that you enjoy. Sell your old car and get another one. It may be cheaper to just get another good working car on the auction block, than pay all your repairs.

Seek your bosses help to re-imburse some of your gas expenses. It is tax deductible for him or for you, anyway.

You have to begin making assets and slowly erase out liabilities.
Debts, child support, tv, expensive toys, car and car repairs will come into expenses ie. liabilities. Erasing out liabilities may also mean having to forego the car.
Your income should first buy assets, such as a bank balance, 401K, or something to bank on, that gives interest, and has a ready market, which in turn pays off your liabilities.

It really sounds like you're doing all you can do- in the current positions you have. I would say, keep your ears open for any job opportunities in a similar field that might pay a little better. Please don't be discouraged if nothing comes up right away, I will pray that you get something wonderful.

You might consider prayer, but I don't know that it will help. My experience with prayer is that it gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere. Somewhat similar to rocking in a rocking chair.

Good luck.
