Quando, Quando, Quando" is an Italian pop song dating from the early 1960s, written by Alberto Testa and Tony Renis (sometimes credited under his birth name Elio Cesari). Renis made the song famous. It has frequently been performed in English translation, with lyrics by Ervin Drake. The most notable rendition in English was by pop singer Engelbert Humperdinck.
The song has been used and remixed by many artists and in many different advertisements. In one version of the song, Nelly Furtado does a duet with Michael Bublé.
The song was used in the movie The Blues Brothers - when Jake and Elwood first encounter Murph and The Magictones, they are playing this song at the Holiday Inn.
The title translates as "When, When, When". Quando is the only Italian word normally retained in the English version, although some performers add another Italian word or phrase.
It recently transpired that in Malta a World Record attempt was set by Lee "The General" Dransfield, a local stand-up comedian and entertainer. The Challenge was to sing the word "Quando" as many times as possible during the song. The General managed an astounding 2,012 utterances of the word Quando during the song's duration, a record that The General vows to break when next he stands before a microphone in Memories Pub, St Julian.
The same night, astrophysicist Barnaby Rowe was deprived of his World Record for uttering the words "You Ain't Nothin' But A..." the most times during the duration of the song, Hound Dog, by Elvis Presley. The new record holder is David Mendoza, a goalkeeper from Paceville, who repeated "You Ain't Nothin' But A..." 273 times during the song's two and a half minute duration.
