Is that what your teachers are asking you about the play? Geez, that question is almost totally irrelevant to a discussion of Shakespeare's "Julius Ceaser"...what matters here is not whether or not Ceaser deserved death, but the way in which the personal and the political merge to inspire his death at the hands of conspirators.

Sorry, it is just a very weak thesis on which to base an analysis of the play. It sounds like your teacher doesn't understand it themselves.

does anyone deserve to die? brutus and his co-conspirators believed that caesar had too much power and had to be stopped. julius caesar was putting all of rome's established political systems out of order and there was the suggestion he wanted to become king (or "caesar")! while rome had had a type of democracy for hundreds of years.

Not necessarily. Still, pompus politicians do cause people to do severe things in remedy. If, and I believe he did, he intended to suspend the Consul/Proconsul executive system and making himself the emperor his nephew Octavian (Augustus) soon afterwards did--then we have to remember that tyrants (someone who overrode the democratic election and secured power for himself) in those days tended to have a fairly short life-expectancy.

Today, we have people who see abortion as murder, and then resort to murder (of abortion doctors) to remedy it. Our president and most of those that came before him, have a large security staff because people want to do him in, for reasons right or wrong (the man who attacked Reagan did it to get attention to impress a girl he had un unreasonable crush on).

Caesar was murdered! NO ONE deserves to be murdered. Worst of all, he was betrayed and killed by his "friends."
