Hephaestus ws the god of blacksmiths.Short, twisted and ugly. He was married to Aphrodite, the gorgeous goddess of love. She & Ares(war) were having an affair. Hephaestus made very strong, almost invisible chains and set them round the bed. When next Ares and Aphrodite "got together" they didn't see the chains until it was too late, so they were caught in an embarrassing position, much to the other gods' amusement. Hope this helps. Sequel could be interesting!

Oh, I love Greek Mythology.

Here are some sites that might help you out:
http://www.mythweb.com/
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/h/hephaestus.html
http://homepage.mac.com/cparada/GML/Hephaestus.html
http://gogreece.about.com/cs/mythology/a/mythhephaestus.htm

However if you really want to blow your teacher away or have enough time I strongly recommend checking out Edith Hamilton's book: Mythology.
