Eighty-seven years ago, our ancestors created a new country here in North America that was founded on the idea that all men are free and equal in the eyes of the law and their fellow man.

Let's see now - 87 years ago the founders of the American republic came to North America and created a new nation based in liberty and devoted to the equality of men.
On the American civil war battlefield located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, President Abraham Lincoln, on a cold and rainy day, gave his 'address' or presentation.
The Gettysburg Address is almost considered the second constitution.

87 years ago, the Founding Fathers created a new country based on the idea of equality. In essence, he is saying that this new country was created with the concept of freedom and liberty in mind, and on the basis of equality. At Gettysburg, Lincoln was reminding people of that, and that this war was being fought for two reasons: 1. to keep that country together, and 2. to make sure that the ideals it was founded on were in fact being lived up to, and in fighting this war which now, with the Emancipation Proclamation, was also a war to end slavery and bring the country on the path to true equality for all, regardless of skin color.
