All I ever hear about is the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series (young adult). Surely, there must be some books for adult readers that make people just as enthusiastic?

Well, 2006 was a good year:

The Lay of the Land by Richard Ford, Absurdistan by Gary Shteyngart, The Places in Between by Rory Stewart, Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl, Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon, Arthur and George by Julian Barnes and Everyman by Philip Roth - to name but a few.

There's a LOT of good/great novels being written.

They come out every day. There are many great adult fiction authors putting out great books, but you just dont hear adults here gushing and speculating about them.

Michael Connelly
Daniel Silva
Steve Berry
Carl Hiaasen
Nelson DeMille
Dean Koontz
Toni Morrison
Elie Weisel
are just a few adult authors who continue to put out high quality fiction for adults. It is most definitely out there. Pax - C

I'd recommened "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak - it was inspiring, bittersweet and interesting for me to read as a 16 year old, but for adults it challanges them as well with its characters and setting.
