Currently, we have one beardie who is 14-15 inches long. We are looking to buy him a brother. Does it matter if the second beardie we introduce is much smaller than the one we already have, or should they be about the same size? Also, once we get the new beardie, should we be aware of anything before putting him in the same cage as our other one?

dont do it unless you know for shure they are either oposite sex or 2 females. even then2 females may fight and the male may be aggresive to the female bearded dragon males get very competetive and aggresive as they mature. you can find many stories online of females with nipped tails or bitten off toes from males. i would just stay with the one or get an entirely new enclosure for the other one

DONT DO IT
I did and three of my beardos ended up dying,
QUARANTINE QUARANTINE QUARANTINE< pet store beardies have parasites, mites, coccidia, worms etc.
yours probably has them too, but in manageable levels so your beardo dosent look sick
ALSO males fight to the death, they will even fight if they can see eachother and are in different cages.
yes it has to be the same size, no you cant put it in the same cage, if you are even thinking about doing it you MUST QUArantine the new one in a separate cage for at least two months, monitor the poo, make sure he sheds, etc. THis is very important to the lives of your pets, and do not take em to the vet, the vet will kill them. the only thing you should do with the vet is a fecal sample, bring in the poo they will test it, then buy what you need on pet meds, they will sell you stuff that is so potent it just kills your animals digestive tract...

be smart, get a mali uromastyx quarantine it, then they can be friends, but two beardos will kill eachother, unless they are both females, then you can have five if your cage is big enough. good luck and serioulsly QUARANTINE

I would not recomend putting a smaller Bearded Dragon with a larger one. The larger one might get territorial and might harras the smaller one stressing him or maybe hurting him. What you should do is.......... putting the small one in another close by tank that will let them see each other. Take them out of their tanks at the same time so they will get to know each other and when they are about the same size, put them in the same cage. Hope this helps!!!

Don't do it! They will still be very territorial. I did this, got one the same size as the one that I already had. One still got a lot bigger, prevented the other one from eating, and now bites him repeatedly. I had to separate them. Dragons are very territorial and if they're not together to begin with, introducing a 2nd one will lead to certain death, no matter how large the cage is. I have a very large cage, and there is still nowhere to hide.

DO NOT buy a brother for your bearded dragon. They can become aggressive and the larger will harm or kill the smaller. Do not let them see one another. The only time two should be together is during breeding.

Please email me so we can discuss this further.

If they are both males do not house them together as they are territorial and will fight. Even if your houseing a male with a female it is dangerous. These lizards like to be alone your company is all they need :)
