I forgot my own WEP key because I have made it a long time agoand I cannot find the notepad file. Is there anyway I can check my computer or w/e to find this WEP key. I do not want to make another one because then i would have to change all of my computers that are connected to it, and it would be a hassle. Thanks in advance.

Look at your router set up page. It should list the WEP key being used.

oooh too speedy to bounce in on the thumbs down. i became merely marking this question so i ought again to it.. i spoke back an identical one earlier and became going to repeat my previouse answer. besides WPA and WEP are the two encription strategies, used to give up individuals hijacking your on the spot get admission to component. employing an alpha-numeric key to know all instruments allowed onto your community and denying all those that to no longer have an same key. you will choose this key to get admission to your WLAN (on the spot get admission to component). i might opt to comprehend the make and type of your router as a fashion to allow you to comprehend precisely what you ought to do. That being suggested, all on the spot routers have similer purposes to a minimum of one and different. it is what you ought to do to get your key: a million. use Interner Explorer to get admission to your router. e.g. 192.168.2.a million (in case you dont comprehend your routers ip handle.. open command instantaneous and type 'ipconfig'. seem on your 'default gateway') 2. seem for a 'risk-free practices' gadget, usualy placed below on the spot decision. 3. in case you'v chosen a username and password then you relatively would be requred to go into it right here, in any different case a default would be in result. 4. your WPA/ WEP key would be displayed right here, write it down or enter a sparkling one

what operating system is your computer running? if you're using windows, these are the general steps:

click start > run > type command > click ok

on the command screen, type ipconfig > press enter

note down your default gateway. it is important that your computer is hard wired to your wireless router, otherwise you will not get a default gateway.

close the command screen and open your browser (internet explorer, etc.)

type the default gateway in the address bar and press enter or click go. you should be taken to your wireless router setup screen, or to a login screen. if you get a login, type your router username and password (it should be in the manual, unless you've changed it).

once you're in your router setup page, look for a tab that says wireless. you should find all your wireless information there. inclucing the wep key.

hope this helps.

Not really, you really need to recode your key, cant see that a problem as other PC will simply ask for the new key once.
