Yes they can.....I have a relationship like that. We went out....almost got married...glad we didn't...but were great friends and I'm glad for that. It can get awkward.....have those relationships too with others.....but prefer to remain friends as there was something that attracted me to them...why not be friends?
God Bless U,
Daniel

Someone i know has this guy friend whom she had
strong feelings for. Guy didn't know about it until
he came back to visit her (note:guy migrated to the
U.S.). My friend has a boyfriend and her guy friend
was in a relationship as well. Guy friend felt stupid
for not having noticed it five years ago. Guy friend
says he feels the same way but was just too stubborn
to realize it.

As long as both parties know that there is nothing more between them than friendship. I am actually very good friends with one of my ex boyfriends from high school. He and his girlfriend have double dated with my husband and I numerous times before. It's not at all awkward because we both know that any stronger feelings are behind us.

yea thats what happened with my friend tia and my toher friend dylan they liked each other since the 5th grade and they were being pressured by the people i hang out with to go out with each toher but thety just wanted to be friends and it was fine so if oyu want to be friends than that is ok but if you truly deeply like the person you can ask them out peace<<)

Depends how much they want to stay that way, how much willpower they have.
But I think if I was in that situation, I'd just go for it. I don't believe you can be attracted to someone and just ignore your feelings...well I know I can't, actually.

i believe things might always be kinda weird, but it just depends on how much you wanna work out the friendship and who has the willpower to do so, without letting things get difficult and slip back to previous ways.

That's pretty tough. but yeah it can happen. I don't know that its really worth the risk, to be quite honest with you. Somebody's liable to get hurt unintentionally
