Bush destroyed and lied about the economy, and is the direct result to the downward spiral. Economist say this Administration is in another run on finances and resources which is a Depression not a Recession. Bush's inflation without the cost of living rising along with it, has caused the loss, and the housing boom loans being called in. I don't trust Republicans period, so I pay cash for everything. I learned from the previous Nixon and Reagan Administrations. Economics relates directly to the Presidents approval ratings. The worst!!!

I wish Bush would not have let China enter the world market with a billion consumers who buy gas. It's all his fault for not killing the Chinese so gas would go down.
As for housing. home ownership rates are at an all time high, and interest rates are far below the 21% prime rate under Carter. Yes, the Bush economy beats Carter's failure. Thanks for the reminder...

the cost of oil is severe through fact the cost of the greenback has fallen steeply mutually as Bush is in place of work. Bush can resign and admit that he would not what he's doing yet even then this is going to take various a protracted time to repair the wear and tear that Bush has achieved over 8 years.

You can blame Bush for not doing more to curb gas prices but you can't blame him for bankruptcies because that is the fault of the person living beyond their means. They have credit card debt that they knew that they could not pay when they charged it. We have the lowest unemployment rate in 51 years, so finding a job is not the problem. It's the wanting something for nothing generation.

LIke most liberals You are overlooking the fact that the do nothing congress is permitting a free for all in both the oil and banking industires. The taxpayers foot the bill for the inattention of the congress to limit exposure of the people to this gouging. Bush has nothing to do with it but naturally the libs blame him.

gas was pretty high in 84. was that rayguns year? I was just a little tike then. Mortgages are screwed cause of predatory lenders and you can't pin that on bush but oil is ridiculous cause bush thinks its cool to shake down countries who own the oil such as iran and venezuela and he disrupted the oil operations iniraq that used to run smoothly under Sadamn.

In all fairness to Bush, have the gas prices been adjusted for inflation in the comparison to gas prices during Carter's Presidency?
Boye (above): that's a bit of an exaggeration...

I do love him!
No large scale terrorist attacks on our soil since 9/11, a dow above a record 13,000, unemployment at or near record low pace, minority home ownership at it highest level, small business and entrepreneurship expanding the economy, millions now able to live in freedom, women’s rights increasing in several middle east countries, real aid to problems in Africa, effective work to reduce fossil fuel usage in vehicles.
Here's econ 101 for ya: the President has nothing to do with oil prices.. see there are these things are refineries and people called refiners and they set the price to sell to the gas station who, in turn determines what price to sell the gas at to make a profit.
Maybe if the libs would let us drill in Anwar and off the coast of Florida gas prices would go down dramatically but they can't because then they'd have nothing to b i t c h about.... because if gas prices are low and gas is affordable and plentiful then they can't blame everything on big businesses.

and remember, Pres Carter had to cope with a global Oil Crisis, which say the price of crude go up 300%.
Bush's ineptitude is the cause of the latest bad numbers. This is the reason why he concentrates on his WAR OF TERROR, so that the average American Joe can be diverted.... fact is these numbers affect the average American Joe and there just is no hiding place. Thanks Mr 'Decider' Commander Guy, Pres.
