there is no icon for microsoftword on my desktop help

You will have to get Microsoft Office, and install it. This software includes Microsoft Word, amongst other tools.

Do you have Microsoft Office software installed? What operating system are you running?

If it is a version of Windows, you can go to Start Programs - Microsoft Word or Office - then right click on Create Shortcut to create an icon on your desktop.

You have to buy it to install legally. You can install Word Viewer if you only want to open and read Word documents or you can try the free Open Source software. Links below:

If you had installed it already, then chances are its under'Program Files / Microsoft Office'

If you don't have a word processing program, you can obtain a free version of Abi Word... it's not as good as MS Word, but it serves the purpose... just type Abi Word into your browser and get it.
