After you work out your metabolism is increased so do it then, but wait about 1/2 hour. If you do it before a work out you may feel too heavy from eating to work out or you may get stomach cramps. If you must eat before i'd suggest lighter foods such as salads.

My answer would be both, but it depends on the intensity of your exercise. I would recommend a protein drink with energy additives like a banana or some other form high in carbs an hour before working out. After your workout you can do the same or have a good high protein meal with some good complex carbs.

The perfect answer requires more information such as what you are trying to accomplish with your training.

after. If you eat before a workout, the food won't be digested right away, which can lead to cramps and stomach upset. That's why one waits an hour after eating before swimming.

AFTER!! When you eat, your blood rushes to the stomach to assist with digestion. Exercising right after eating can put too much of a strain on your heart.

Not right before, but you don't want to be starving, you want some energy.

I eat my biggest meal right after a workout.
