The only answer is that it varies WIDELY from woman to woman, and the length of time you were on birth control doesn't seem to have a direct impact on how long it takes your cycles to resume.

What you can do is start watching your body for signs of temperature changes, cervical fluid, and cervical position. Your body will let you know when it's ready!

I am going off BC in a year, and I've been reading all about it in this book:

Start charting your symptoms: BBT, cervical position, CM, etc. and taking OPK's. You won't know you're ovulating until you've had a month of charting that shows an ovulatory cycle. Honestly though, if you're having your periods regularly, you're probably ovulating. In fact, it's common for the body to react to a lack of birth control pills by releasing more than one egg, allowing for multiples in the first ovulatory cycle. Good luck. There are many online websites to track your fertility. Ovusoft.com and fertilityfriend.com work well.

I was on it for 7 years, and ovulated 2 weeks after going off it, just as in a normal cycle. I used ovulation predictior strips to find out. It can come back the first month, or take up to 6 months.

could take your body from 1 to 3 years being off birth control, establish regular periods and track them and use an online fertility calculator to help you
