No, he is not worth it. The Yankees should invest that money in the farm system and stop paying these over the hill guys all this money with mediocre results. I like Clemens, but he will not save this team from stumbling this year. He might go 10-5 with a 3.00 ERA and that is like 2 million a win. That's pretty crazy if you think about it. I just think this was a publicity stunt just to generate talk about how the Yankess are back in the hunt.
Someone earlier blasted sox fans. I am not a Sox fan but I think the Yankees are lacking pitching that is needed to succeed. Most the guys they have were great 5-10 years ago but age has not treated them well this year. Their bullpen will be tired by the time August gets here. This will just prove, yet again, money can't buy you rings all the time Georgie!!!!

Brian Cashman has been given a blank check by George to spend whatever it takes to keep the Yankees in the spotlight. Hence you have an All-Star roster who can't play together. Brian Cashman elected to throw that much money to a 45 yr old because it draws attention to the Yankees. Mr. Cashman is by far one of the worst GM's in the game. It has been proven that playing for the day is not the way to go. You need to look to the future. If you have anymore questions ask the Atlanta Braves, or the Detroit Tigers.

He is not worth that much no way no how. He is a only average pitcher at this point in his carrear he is not going to get any better and will no longer be a dominate major league pitcher. So personally I think Roger should retire and both the yankees and Roger will be happy. I have no clue why Roger wants to keep playing he has a World Series ring and he is a clear hall of famer so I think it is time for Roger to hang up the spikes.

How can you not know anything about Baseball and ask that question and throw in the fact that the Yankees have 4-5 HOF players? Are you one of those CLOSET Yankee fans that is too ashamed to admit it?

Technically he's not going to make $28 million. His contract is prorated so he'll onlt pull down like $19 million. As far as them not signing big contract players, they can sign whoever they want. More power to anybody who can squeeze out extra money for their services, but Clemens will not be able to save the Yankees season by himself.

i personally feel a person making 20 lifetime's of a person's salary in 1 year isn't justified think about people a man can throw a leather ball for 3 hour's and make almost a million dollar's for that.. what a crazy world no one is worth what they are getting paid

and who ever thinks steinbrenner is paying him is wrong
a hot dog cost's $5 dollar's, a soda cost's $5 dollar's, ticket's cost hundred's of dollar's why because roger Clemens wants 28 million dollar's

We offered Clemens the same money, but he was required to cut the grass, sell hotdogs and clean urinals on off days. He turned it down. I guess he preferred a team that pays him not to be a member of the team, just show up once a week, play a game and collect his check lol GO TRIBE !!!

Steinbrenner and Cashman think Clemens' services are worth the price. No other opinion matters.

It doesn'r matter. The will have to pay a ton in luxury taxes at the end of the year which pretty much voids this out.
