There are several problems with the world today. They are fossil fuels (or lack of), war, famine, poverty, overpopulation, greenhouse gases causing rapid climate change, politicians interested in their own selfs than that of the public who voted them in.
Unfortunetly our fossil fuel situation will only get worst. We will eventually end up running out of oil sometime within the next 20 to 40 years (still within my lifetime). During this time China will have increased its population and global economical demand for more fossil fuels to a point that it surpasses the U.S.A and other European countries. Our Government will then try and hold onto all the reserves of oil that we have and try and hold onto Alaska which I believe will be overtaken for its potential oil fields. We will have then entered into the begining of WW3 with no hopes of it ending any time soon. Our society and civilization will have crumbled due to the economical constraints of high gas prices we will have and the world as we currently know it will cease to exist.
Perhaps then, we will have banded together in smaller groups more resembling fuedal societies with one leader democratically elected to run for either a life time or for a longer period of time other than 4 years.
We will still have technologically advanced areas of the world. Certain cities will have been rebuilt and will become technology centers for Fuedal societies while the smaller towns will develop thier own different path of a more closer knit sort of feeling. Perhaps by creating a Barter system or something to compensate for the lack of an economy.
You see our society and civilizations only fixes something after a major catastrophe!.....We learn from our mistakes. Unfortunetly some mistakes may be too big to learn from.

The "Worst" problems of the world today are two fold: The first is War and the second is Energy.
(1
We have to stop fighting and killing each other
(2
We have to develop alternative means of energy outside of burning fossil-fuels
Each problem is a tough nut to crack. Because there are special interest involved, who have "power": social, political & economic at stake. It will take the combined efforts of everybody on earth to bring an end to our present predicament. Especially when the "powers that be" try to justify and rationalize every war we fight! Well, here is what I say. It is all very well to do that just as long as one is not one of the people doing the dying. Further, when those wars are being fought over more fossil fuel to brn, it's beneath contempt and beyond redemption and serves no purpose to speculate on "how" to stop it all without a world-wide consensus that says, "ENOUGH! YOU WANT TO FIGHT A WAR, THEN PICK UP A WEAPON AND GO FIGHT. JUST LEAVE THE REST OF US OUT OF IT...PERIOD!" Also, one must know, that the people fighting have been doing so for so long, they have forgotten what the reasons are. The behavior is not likely to change over night. It's silly of us to think that they will do so.

Overpopulation.
Aids, Energy Shortage, Pollution, Religious Extremism or any other issue are people problems. Even global warming is a by product of overpopulation. The more people we have, the more fuel we burn, the more trees we cut down, you get the point. Everything gets amplified on a meteoric scale when we have no control over such a large global population. Its impossible to address these issues effectively cause as the global population grow, the problems grow with it.
Can we stop people from procreating? Are we prepared to do whatever necessary to to fix this problem? I doubt so.

not in any particular order...here are a few....

1) Taxes. Taxes stiffle freedom. Taxes cause those with money to hide their money instead of investing it and creating jobs locally and worldwide.

2) Aids racket. Aids is completely preventable. Keep needles out of your arms and certain body parts out of another certain body part. Problem solved. No more aids spread around. Quarantine those with Aids as well. According to the CDC site, Aids accounts for fewer deaths than numerous diseases yet has 10 times the funding that other diseases receive. Why? Cause it's a racket and certain classes of people yell louder and get more attention.

3) International socialism. The movement towards a globalist/international socialism is progressing at an alarming rate. Socialism and its kissing cousin, communism have never worked when practiced. Reference hitler and the nazis or national SOCIALISTS, millions slaughtered in happy camps, err death camps as well as war. Communism from Russia with love, cambodia, vietnam, china, north korea etc....HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS MURDERED!!!

4) Less US "Imperialism" has led to the deaths of millions. Reference Darfur, black africans, many christians slaugthered, raped etc...by arab muslims. Reference Rwanda, 600,000 murdered with machetes. Should the US have not intervened in those nations? Of course we should have. Anywhere that people are being slaughtered by scum we should be there to whip their asses. The budhist monks in Thailand love America why? Because we helped save them from being beheaded by their muslim neighbors.

4) Madrasas that teach hate everyone that ain't a muslim that believes like you. Do you think it's normal for a religion to use sesamee street characters to teach their children murder the jew and christian, hindu and budhists and other muslims that don't believe as you do? Easy answer no.

5) Not enough hot fudge on my sundae from McDonalds. Very pressing issue that i'm sure everyone has experienced. We must band together and do something now!!!

It is hard, as one person, to imagine how to effect change. But simple things can add up to a big difference, especially if we all do them - walking or biking instead of driving. Eating local foods whenever possible instead of foods that have been transported from other countries. Speaking kindly to those who we view as different from us. Trying to understand other cultures and traditions as equally valuable to the world. Turning of lights when not in the room. Teaching our children to be tolerant and love others rather than be greedy, spoiled, and obnoxious brats...

Our ego. Our pride. Our sense of self.

Until each of us is willing to dissolve the self, these are goals that are unlikely. Any problem by a human can be connected to the human ego. Until we resolve it, get used to the world in whatever form or shape it occurs.

The worst problem is irresponsible procreation. Millions die annually. Millions starve annually. Millions suffer in illness annually. All for things that are completely avoidable.

Starvation, incurable disease, Lack of housing, lack of affordable medicine,
Education. If every person in this world who has enough to eat would share just a little with less fortunate people and start caring about others, it would make a huge difference.

It is the fact that every culture wants the world to live by their laws and regulations. To make a long story short we can all "Live and Let Live" while helping one another, respecting each and lending a helping hand.

1. Greed & Poverty
2. Hatred & Crime

If greed is reduced it will help rewduce poverty. If hatred is reduced crimes will be reduced. People have become more self-serving if they can be more cheritable then this world can be a lot nicer place. You can help others in which ever way possible.
