it was a western, where the hero (lawman/rancher), was after a gang of out laws. At one point he asked for help from townsfolk and the only one to offer help, was a "tenderfoot", when the going got tough, the "tenderfoot', turned out to be a real stand up guy, however he did get wounded in the leg. The hero carried the tenderfoot back to town on his back, just as they reach town a man came up and offered to help, and the hero resonded with " touch this man and I'll kill you!"

can't find anything with the quote on imdb but do you know if it is a Clint Eastwood film. it sounds like his kind of films from the 70s
