Ants are raiding my driveway and soon I think they are going to find a way inside. I am a new homeowner so I've never had to deal with this problem before. What are some ways I can get rid of the ants? I'm not seeing any ant mounds unfortunately, they just seem to be coming out of the grass and walking in straight lines across my driveway.

There are many different types of ant killer, but I would check with your local hardware or garden stores. I would find out what type of ants these are because they might recommened a certain kind for different types of ants. Spraying our putting out ant stakes around the perimeter of your home should help also. I used something in my home that was quite effective, I can't remember the name, but it is like a liquid gel. You put a few drops on these little square tear offs that come with the package. The ants love it, and they swarm all over it within minutes, and eventually take it back to their nest. It may take a few days, but eventually they don't come back.

A pest service is your best bet. However, if you don't want spend the money you can get ant traps and bait from places like Home Depot. You can also get a sprayer and spray around your house. During the summer, keep your lawn wet and the ants won't be forced to look elsewhere.

The best I have found are the ant baits. They come in round or square containers and hold the poison. The ants take it back to the nest and it kills the nest. Theses have always worked for me. Also, making sure you keep crumbs and grease cleaned up at all times, will keep the ants away.

Diazinon liquid spray works wonders! It'll kill other pests too like cockroaches, sliverfish and fleas. It's for outside-use only. Just read the application instructions carefully and keep your pets inside for a few hours after spraying. It can be purchased from hardware stores and nurseries.

If it's brand new construction, you may need to get a pest control service to come every other month for a year. Then, you can back it off to every 3 months.

If it's old construction, just have the pest control service come a couple of times a year.
