If you are pregnant the person to ask if taking ANY mediction is ok is YOUR DOCTOR,no one else.
This applies to prescription and over the counter drugs. While it may seem to be an innocent question, the safety of your baby is at stake.

Metamucil is natural and safe. Just drink an 8 oz glass daily, maybe at night before bed and it should help. They make caplets too but you have to swallow a bunch. I don't think the orange drink is too bad really.
I would talk to your doctor first about any other remedy. Natural doesn't always mean safe. Some are stimulants and can cause uterine contractions. Definitely avoid castor oil and think twice about stool softeners.
Also, try to increase your intake of water and fiber in your diet.

The better answer would be to modify your diet. Drink lots of water, fresh green vegetables--raw or lightly steamed, and fresh fruit. (Brocolli, spinach, dark lettuce, Swiss Chard, and sugar snap peas can all be eaten raw. Brussel sprouts, green beans, English peas, etc. benefit from cooking.) Eat at least two servings of green vegetables a day and two servings of fresh fruit a day, plus two to three servings per day of other vegetables along with your protein.
Just be sure to wash everything carefully, even fruits where you don't eat the peel or skin. If there is bacteria on the skin and you slice through it with a knife, the blade of the knife could carry the bacteria to the flesh of the fruit. (This is a bigger risk with fruits that grow on the ground like melons.)

Drink plenty of fluids. I know that it can be hard to do when you're peeing all the time, but it's important. You can drink prune juice, take colace or miralax which is available OTC. You can take a senakot daily and make sure you up your intake of fiber - whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Cut down on cheeses and bananas.
