A nice, conservative suit is always good. You can also get away with wearing a nice blouse and a pair of slacks. Please know even when filling out an application, go prepared as if you are going to interview. Even filling out an application dressed for an interview makes a good impression. The recruiter may see you and remember you when it is time to interview. You may get the job based on that as opposed to someone coming in jeans and sneakers.
Good Luck!

It does depend on the TYPE of job you are going for but personally I dont think you can go wrong with something conservative in either black, navy, charcoal or light grey or brown. This depends on 'your colour' that goes with your skintone/hair etc.,

If you're applying to the local lawyers office then a skirt suit is the only option to go for, as it's the sort of thing you would be expected to wear to court when at work and a sensible option to greet the public if stuck at the office. It shows you have a brain as well as looks and an apt attitude also

I WOULD NOT go with one suggestion here advising short skirt, lowcut tops etc (just incase you have taken that poster to heart) as this will merely get you thought of in completely the wrong light; as the wrong type for the job; And if they take you on after or as a result of that performance, then you only have yourself to blame if you are treated as the ''office tart'' that is respected by no-one, liked by even fewer, shunned and laughed at behind your back and propositioned by some leery boss ....

Judging by the fact that you've ASKED for an opinion, I'm guessing you are quite sensible; able to go with sound advice and to know the difference. If you've a mum or an aunt who can read through the replies with you and see what they think, that would be a good option to go with; and if thats the case maybe they could also come up with the right anwer for you as well!

Good Luck whatever way you go and remember more than anything else that FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT. They can either LOSE YOU or GAIN YOU the second interview invite.

Stores like Annie Sez, Bon Ton, Chico's, etc. have nice trendy, but still classy outfits, that could be perfect for interviews. I would wear a black skirt, not too short maybe knee length, a red undershirt and a little black jacket. It will be trendy, but suity at the same time. Also stockings and black high heels will look great. This will surely impress the employers, because the way you present yourself is very important. Also, don't overdo the make up. Hope this helps!! Have a good day and good luck at the interviews!!

I know fashion is important but i would go for a suit that will not go out of style, for you never know where that suit may take you and for how long it will be before you can go and get an other one.Black is ok,but maybe go for dark grey or navy far smarter and looks better.

Anything expect bright colours, stay away from reds etc. Go for something formal, like Charcoal Grey or Navy. If you want to use your body (if you're comfortable with it) to your advantage (not that is very pc, but if you want the job badly...) then choose a suit with a knee length tight skirt.

Ann Taylor has the most trendy but classy suits which will last you forever, they may be a little pricey but you just need one for an interview maybe two. They will last forever if you don't gain or loose weight (if you loose weight though you can tailor)

1] assess your coloring - what neutrals look best on you? Warm [ ivory/caramel/olive green/chocolate ] or Cool
[ white/gray/navy/black ].
2] what is your body type?
a] hourglass - fitted blazer that sits at hipbone; pencil or Aline skirts - midknee length; no pleats, cuffed, or tapered pants.
b] boyish - tailored curvy jacket; skirts with swing - pleats, trumpet, flared, aline; no full cut or baggy pants
c] busty - menswear style jackets; blouses that fit!; aline, pencil, stitch down pleats, knee length skirts; low waist , subtle flares
d] pearshape - jacket that fits well ,and ends below waist and above hips; knee length Aline skirts, low rise, flat front, boot cut pants
e] petite - no oversize tops; kneelength skirts, no cuffs or wide leg pants
DO NOT go trendy, unless you are interviewing at Vogue.
Wear something that fits and flatters you . The number one rule for suits : CLASSIC.
3] style your hair in an attractive, sensible do
4] wear attractive makeup, and don't overdo it
5] manicured fingernails
6] very subtle scent, if any
7] no jewelry that makes noise [ bangles ], quality only

I usually go with nice slacks, a neutral color, and a button up shirt. Kohls, target.. those are places I can get it for cheap. You can get the suits that are skirts instead, just make sure its a reasonable length. Good luck!

Depends on the type of job!! if you are going to be a sexy secretary........... shortish skirt, stockings, high shoes, loose button shirt. Now if your going to work in the kennels then maybe an old pair of jeans and some wellies. Good luck at the interview.
