Are you kidding me??!!?? Of course it matters...look at where our troops are and for how long they have been there...those decisions were made by President Bush and have directly affected milions of Americans.

It makes a difference. The President comes up with a budget, that means he decides where the government is going to spend money, so if student loans are more important to you than wars for oil that might bear on your decision. Obviously the President can start a war if he wants, and he can ignore a national disaster like Katrina if he wants, too. He can appoint ideological theological zealots to the courts, or qualified jurists. He can turn the justice system into something that Stalin would have been comfortable with, or respect the Constitution. Believe me, it makes a difference. Vote Democratic.

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing ..."
--Edmund Burke
"You have a Republic--if you can keep it"
--Benjamin Franklin

If you simply sit around and get cynical--you become the best supporter a corrupt or power-hungry politician can hope for. There are a million things you can do to make a difference. But the bottom line: if you want "someone else" to "do something"--you abdicate your responsibility as a citizen.

Here's a place to start: let your representatives in Congress know what you think. You can find their e-mails here:

The President may seem to have a lot of power, but Congress really runs the country. They decide laws, budgets, and ultimately who becomes President in the first place.

It won't make a difference of what President we have in office if the people, Americans, don't stand up and make a change. We could have the smartest man or women in office but we the people have to make sure our voices are heard in order for a change to take place.

yes and no and yes... yes it makes a difference because there are many decisions that get made by the president... however I think the manner in which we elect him should be changed... and furthermore as long as Americans spend there money in certain things our government wont change... if we all spent our money and time being better for the environment... legislation would follow suit because our government just like big business and rich people.. they go where the money is...

no. it is up to the people to make changes these can be made with the power in their wallets, but if president was from one of several new parties added say from either the green party, socialist party, communist party things might change as more parties would more evenly distribute the power, and communism can happen it does not have to be only thing in u.s. if it is allowed in u.s. ther could be a communist party why not look what is happening to china the communist party is dissapearing go for it so again no maybe then again things might change if it works

Yes it does!

Thanks to President Bush, we have hundreds of soldiers and innocent people dying each day in Iraq as a result of his stubborn need for power and control of that country.

And also thanks to President Bush, we have hundreds of "undocumented aliens" pouring into our states and ruining our quality of life and medical care.

I think Clinton would have done things differently in some aspects (when of course "Monica" was not taking his attention away!)

I'd like just one time to vote on an issue that when it passes, is not challenged, and to vote for a president (which I did for Bush) thinking he was on my side as an American.

I still have hope. I just hope I live long enough to see it come true.
