Is it possible to have a period if you do not ovulate? I am ttc and am not even sure if i ovulate. over the counter tests constently say no ovulation but i get a period every month. Period is usually only a day or 2 sometimes not even enough to use a tampon.

Yes, some women have annovulatory cycles, meaning a cycle without ovulation.

If you pick up the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility it will give you the tools and information you need to watch your body's signs of ovulation. There are three signs, basal temperature, cervical fluid, and cervical position. The book does a great job of explaining these. It also helps inform you of treatment options in case your body tells you that something is not right.

I'm not TTC yet, but I have already read the book. I have learned 10 times more about my body than I ever knew!

Yes, anovulatory periods are commonly irregular, though. For example, you may not have the typical regular 28 day cycle. In my opinion, if you have tested for ovulation and have not gotten the blue line, you need to get checked out by the doctor.

I'd go see your doctor and make sure everything is OK. Man, less than a tampon...only in my wildest dreams.

This is very common. You quite possibly have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. If you want to conceive, and do have this problem you will need help from your Dr. So go see your OB/GYN.

yes, you can have a period and not ovulate. I had a friend that bled that little. she also didn't need to use deodorant.
