It seems like they refuse to tolerate other cultures and belief systems. Why? I wish they were more tolerant of others.

Who is bringing religion into this.... you seem to have an agenda.... Why won't you tolerate others?
What rights don't they have? Life? Liberty? Pursuit of happiness?

I think it might be because they're defensive. I have had friends that believe being gay/ lesbian is right, though they KNOW in their hearts that it isn't part of God's plan for humanity.
When people are attacked for actions that they know in their heart of hearts isn't right in God's sight - whether they profess to believe in Him or not - they become defensive and get riled up. If people won't accept their choices, poor as they are, then why should they respect the choices of other people? And some believe that they really are right and that God and His people are in the wrong.
God is a loving God, but he does have standards. Sin is sin... and my sin isn't any different in God's eyes as the sin of the one who chooses this particular lifestyle.

It's the hate that hate produced essentially.
We live in a society that is so viciously and violently intolerant of the gay lifestyle, and some of the most anti-gay are the biggest hypocrites at the helm. I can understand how such adversity can leave one feeling disgusted and filled with contempt.

I'm a happily married straight woman, but I 'worked professionally' with many different gays my whole career ... and gay activists are actually LESS bigoted and hate filled than those in any other 'political group'. One day, we were out to lunch, and my son complained rather loudly that he hadn't seen any 'Dykes on Bikes' because we hadn't gone to the parade. Two women got up, came to our table, and said, Honey, we were in the Dykes on Bikes, and there are twelve more of us in here eating right now ... I'll introduce you personally to every one of us if you want. My son said he'd love that ... and so he was taken around and 'introduced' to all of them. There was 'no politics' there except the wonderful woman who wanted this little boy (who was 9) to be 'happy' that day, and not sad ... and all of her 'wonderful friends' who agreed with her, and who made my son's day ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. My son is now 'all grown up' with two daughters of his own ... and that is a 'lovely story' that he tells them ... right before he introduces them to 'anyone different' (gay, lesbian, minority by color or nationality, etc.) and they understand ... and are 'very happy people who are neither 'bigoted or hate filled' ... but evidently you 'are' and want to ask a 'silly question' about people who are 'very loving' ... and God doesn't 'reject them' either ... I go to the Catholic Cathedral and there are both gay priests (and straight ones) and gay 'extraordinary ministers' ( and straight ones) and gays in the pews (and straight people, too, of course) and we all get along and 'love each other' ... and so should you. Then maybe you'd see that they aren't 'bigoted and hate filled' but that you are seeing your 'mirror image' in them for some reason. ARE YOU GAY?

It's like this, when you've been told who you can/can't love, where you can/can't reside, religious fanatics screeching some drivel from the greatest book of fiction ever written....
Wouldn't you be a little testy?

I think there reacting emotionally to the fact that they're being denied rights that the rest of us enjoy simply because of their sexual preference.

they are mostly super religious freaks, they cannot tolerate ANYTHING- beer, relaitonships, sex before marriage, especialll gay marriage. In conclusion, they are close-minded, judgemental, need- to-get- their-own-life lunatics.

Oooh, you're being so *ironic*.
Homophobes of the religious right:
Gay people do not want to have sex with you.
Gay people do not want to "convert" your children.
Gay people do not want to force you to live as they do.
Gay people do want equal rights as everyone else.

Do you mean "ANTI-gay" activists?
It seems to me that anti-gay activists are more bigoted and hate-filled than pretty much everyone else...
