Because philosophy professors like you to believe that they know everything about philosophy. But that defeats the purpose of philosophy, if you are made to stop questioning. Heck, I go to a Christian private school and I question the heck out of my Bible teachers all the time. Keep on askin'.

Because part of philosophy as a way of life is learning to discipline your mind not just to ask questions, but how to ask the right questions at the right time.

You have either not taken many philosophy classes or have egocentric profs who don't like to be interrupted. although, most loooooooove to answer questions bc they get to show off how much they know!!

If you like to question, stay away from "History of Philosophy" courses and lean more toward Ethics, Philosophy of Religion, Philosophy or Art, or Liturature etc...
But also know that most profs stay away from "Lifeboat" ethics type of questions - meaning, questions like, 'how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?' or 'if 6 people were in a lifeboat and it could only hold 5, who would have to die?'
