I would like to know your opinions on him not having to go to Iraq. Do you think Granny wangled this ? How do you think the other soldiers feel about this.
My own opinion is , him not going might be a good thing. I would not like to be a soldier on patrol with him , you would be as well just painting a big target on your back.

I would have thought that his fellow officers and men would be relieved that he is not going. They have enough on their hands without having to look after Harry. I wouldn't mind betting that the terrorist groups wouldn't care how British they killed in order to get to Harry.

It's a bad move for security reasons to have him in Iraq. Imagine the logistics of trying to keep him safe. If they found out where he was stationed, that base would be in more danger than others as he would be a huge target and a boon to the insurgents to hurt or kill him. I used to work for the military and my brother is in Iraq now (US soldier) and though I liked the idea that the world leaders can finally feel what torment a sister or mother (or any family member feels) when you send a loved one off to war, I thought about the soldiers who would be unlucky enough to be in his battalion. I would not have liked to be in the same base as him or serving in the same company only because of the increased security risk. So yeah, militarily, it was a wise and responsible decision to pull him.

HM the Queen would not interfere in this. It's pretty obvious that Prince Harry could pose a big risk to British forces in Iraq and/or become the target for terrorists himself.

For all those putting Prince Harry down for drinking and partying, lets see how well YOU'RE social life looks under a microscope.

As for him going to war, he's third in line for the throne! The would be plain stupid to send him, not only for successions sake but the unit he's in would be a huge target! I honestly would not want my husband going to war with him.

You are right. Prince Harry's presence would put the lives of soldiers around him in additional danger without any significant gain. I admire his valour and determination but an officer's duty to his soldiers safety is more important than a grand gesture.

I never thought Harry would go and all the chat on BBC news that he wanted to go was just for us poor mortals. Poor Diana that she could not raise her boys to adulthood. Loved Diana so much, but Harry {the apple} fell far far far from the tree{Diana} especially when he wore a Nazi uniform to a party. It was a direct insult to all the brave allied lads who went to WW2 and the Jews of the Holacaust

I personally think your statement about having a target on your back is very true, at first i was a bit put out because as far as i am concerned the royals should get no special treatment especially when it comes to such as this, didnt the kings of england use to ride into battle at the FRONT of their men/subjects, i see no difference and as an ex serving soldier i would EXPECT it,however this is no ordinary battle and he would be the first person they would try to get precicely because of who he is and i believe the numbers who would fall before him makes this unacceptable

I don't know wether to think it is a good or a bad thing. In my opinion it is good because it is not putting more soilders into danger, but on the other hand look at all the other soilders who has to go into war, just because he is royalty does that mean he has to have special treatment and all that?

I see what you mean, he would put so many other at risk by going out there, but his family name didn't get him pulled out of going to Iraq the British Army wouldn't let him. It was a noble stand on his part, but also a foolish one.

nope he wants to go , but the general in charge quite rightly said no as the men around him will get killed

the royal family is full of military people, you have to remember the queen took part in the second world war, so remembers real fighting as London burned ( and the USA refused to help or declare war on the Nazis)
