I have a duel pumper holly on a 350 with a edelbrock high performance cam. Right now when in park its idling very high. When i shift into gear it wants to stall - need to give it gas to keep it going. Also when accellerating, it hesitates before accellerating. Any suggestions be great. This car is new to me and i am not familiar with the carb setup.

You have to much carburator for a street setup with edelbrock cam either buy a new carb or convert that one to a vacuum secondary.Check timing and idle mixture screws also if not installed allready install a power valve protection kit and check powervalve.

Sounds like someone bumped the idle up to cover some problems...turn down the idle speed to a proper level like 700 rpm unless it has a huge cam....set timing to specs, check for vacuum leaks and vacuum level with a gauge--should be up around 18-20. The idle mixture screws may need to be adjusted and accelerator pump---misadjusted pump will cause stumble or lag on acceleration and possibly has the wrong size squirters. Make sure vacuum advance line from carb to distributor is hooked up to the right port on the carb which is ported vacuum---no vacuum at idle...vacuum at higher rpm's. Call Edelbrock hotline for tips on adjusting.

get back to basics did you change your air filters or fuel filters it should pur not sound like a boat and then when you mat it it should sound pissed but if its not running right dont mat it just cause its not running right dont be scared do some tinkering dont overlook the obvious and if you have to git under the car at all make shure you have jack stands dont mess arround if you dont know what your doing you dont have to throw stuff and swear cause thats what i do i hate working on cars cause it always bloodys my knuckles did you do a commpression check have you looked at the spark plugs is there a break in your rubber hoses you can use a peice of garden hose like a stethascope and listen see if you hear any hissing like a leak somewere watch the long hair and jewelery be pacient and an proverb says it takes friction to polish a jem have you rebuilt the carb has one of your floats got a hole in it read about stuff in a manual it will describe what is wrong or symptoms and that my narrow it down then if you really are not shure go to the library and request a book and if your to mad about it walk away for a while and sleep on it the answer may come to you

I'm assuming you have an automatic transmission because you said " when I put it in park..."
I would suggest that who ever did the engine work ignored the transmission. Since thery did not know what was wrong they sold the car to you.
You need to buy a new, high-stall torque converter. This works wonders with the 350 setup you describe.
.
It might cost $200-$300 dollars, from a speed shop or a transmission shop. It can be a DIY project for anyone who has ever pulled a tranny, but if you are green get help or have it done.

Yea,get some one on that carb that knows how to set it up correctly. You are running on the Idle jet and it's running way rich.It sounds like your intermediate jet isn't cutting in at all and I don't know if your accelerator is even in the picture.Go to a good Hot Rod shop and pay the $$'s .You won't regret it and they'll probably back it up.

you will possibly have pinched or decrease a vacuum line throughout the time of the replace. there are different reasons, fluid point, sturdy situation torque converter, and different transmission components could be checked. additionally, I even have considered vehicles run likely nice till load hits. if it runs in independent yet dies in opposite andpersistent verify your ignition strengthen.—------- ok verify fluid point with it working. is it ok? is it cherry cough syrup colour or black cherry koolaid? any darkish stuff is undesirable information, in keeping with risk torque converter. try revving then droppingpersistent protection FIRST if it attempt to launch and stumbles it in keeping with risk the motor, complete on dies tranny
