I've had a bachelor's degree for several years. A few months ago I was thinking about going back and taking courses I would need to become certified and/or licensed to teach math at the high school level, and when my grad-assistant advisor in the education department was going through my transcripts and checking off what I'd already taken, there was an area on the check-off sheet where she could make comments, and she commented that I made A's in the two semesters of college Spanish I took to satisfy a previous degree requirement, but she made no other comments.
A knowledge of Spanish may be especially important for education majors, though, since many students in the US speak it as their primary language, and I'm not sure that your goals involve teaching.
But whatever you decide, good luck.

It won't stop you from getting into college, but you will have to take a foreign language when you get there. You might pass out of one semester or one year, but two years of high school French won't pass you out of two years of college French. In fact, most decent college-level language programs go about twice the speed of high school, and are usually taught entirely in French (or Spanish, German, etc.) from day one. So sure, you can drop the class, and maybe should if you can't stand the teacher, but it's not going to be any easier in college.

it depends on what college you want to go to as well. Some require two, some require three. I would advise taking as much of a foreign language as possible, just to enrich yourself. If you don't like your french teacher, take another language. Depending on the college you want to go to, they may take 2 years in one language and one or two years in another. But to be honest with you, if you have the gpa you say you have and and take the honors you say you do, 2 years of a foreign language wont hurt you at all.

c'mon. think about it! YOur in honors classes and are wondering this? Most colleges are okay I have heard with just the 2 years. Yet there are many, if not ALL, that will look hapily at those with MORE than two years experience. I went to college in 1993 and I read that 2 years was alright. There were many that were HAPPIER and MORE PRONE to accept me for MORE years that I took. SO, now it is 2007 , I think many schools would be more interested in those who can handle the courseload. You could probably test out of your college requirements for language if you get it out of the way NOW. I had a friend at UCLA who tested out of a ton of courses by taking AP tests. She was a Junior at the start of our FRESHMAN year. so, think on that.

You really should take atleast 3 years of a foreign language because if you don't you will probably have to take the language in college and that will be even harder. If I wereyou i would take 4 years, just in case.

It depends on the college or university. I would check with the schools that you are interested in applying to. You could always take try to take a 3rd year french course at the community college. You may able to get high school credit as well as college credit.

No but you must take 2 of one and then 2 of another. Or 4 years of one. Thats a very basic requirement everywhere. I would suggest dropping french after this year, and picking up something else. If you quit at 2 it will most definitely impact you, as colleges see that as a "you gave up" situation. Believe me i've seen it all too often.

Every school is different. so check with an adviser at the University you want to go to. I went to a public university in CA and B.A. candidates had to have a language. B.S. candidates did not. Thank goodness I got a B.S. :)

It depends upon the college. If you know which colleges you plan to apply to, then check the requirements for each of those schools. Go to the web sites for the schools.
