Can anyone offer me any tips on planning my vaca to see the redwoods this summer. What's better - Eureka? Arcada? Anything else? Know any good hotels/inn's? Should I think about renting a car or are taxi's readily available and cheap?

Well there isn't a lot to do past San Francisco outside of maybe Mendocino and even that isn't anything big.

Wait you want to rent a car or use a taxi to see them? The main Redwood forest is very far from the nearest airport, a taxi ride might run $300 - $400 dollars. It's a good 5-6 hour drive one way in a rental car from SFO. Exactly what you are planning, just to see trees or vacation and see trees?

I have a couple of ideas but I need to know more of your situation. Message me and we can talk, there are ways around what you want to do that you might be very happy with.

Here's an idea. Fly into Portland, Oregon. Spend a couple of days there, and then rent a car and drive down the Oregon coast to the Redwoods and see the Northern California coast. That's a drive you'll never forget.
