Have the sports reporters tied him to the ESPN whipping post because he was a smug baseball aristocrat from the very beginning?

Is Keith Hernandez a bad guy for needing a cigarette between every inning. Is Whitey Ford a criminal for putting five kinds of goop on every ball?

Some of the people answering here are just name callers and "followers" brainwashed by the media. People just say that circumstantial evidence and hearsay is "good as gold" in baseball, and that gives them the "right" (?) to crucify Barry Bonds?

I've met Barry Bonds personally at AT&T Park, numerous times at work and once in my neighborhood. He is not self-centered, not a primadonna, cares about children's welfare and is not a jerk. He is just portrayed by the media as a bad person just because he does not want to grant interviews all the time.

Your question is truly intelligent and I believe the uneducated people who hate Barry Bonds here cannot answer it properly.

Barry Bonds is the bad guy because he's a cheater. Being a jerk certainly doesn't help, but it's not the reason. Look at Rafael Palmeiro: he was shunned even more so than Bonds after his positive test, and he had a very good reputation with the media.

And your Omaha Beach comparison: saying that the same rules should apply in warfare as in pro sports is just ludicrous.

Barry Bonds is the bad guy because he is a liar, a cheater, a "me guy" playing a team sport, and worst of all, he's an *** hole. Anyone like Bonds (McGuire, Sosa, Palmero, etc.) who holds any kind of record, and is known to have cheated, should have an asterisk by their name in the record books and they should not be commemorated in the hall along side Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Roger Marris, Ted Williams, etc. They should be in Cooperstown, but in their own little corner and call it the "Home Run Era." These players have tainted the record books and jeopardized the integrity of one of the greatest games in the world.

To compare baseball to war is ridiculous. Baseball is a game and is supposed to be one of integrity. It is for entertainment and for fun and should be played with sportsmanship and honesty. War, although sometimes necessary, is dirty, it's ugly, and is by no means a game.

first off, he is very smart for keeping his mouth shut.

he is a GREAT baseball player. the media needs to back off and let him have a private life.his job is to play baseball, not to be friendly with thr press.

what all the naive barry haters dont realize, is that drugs have been around A LONG time, amphetimines, pain killers, steroids.
A LOT OF ALTHELETES, even on their favorite teams, USE DRUGS.

Barry Bonds is a bad guy because he is a selfish jerk who took steroids. As far as the rest, I think you should separate these questions. They are all irrelevant to one another.
