There is no draft.
When there was, back in the days of Viet Nam we all told each other how to avoid, not evade, the draft.
Medical conditions, including wearing moldy socks.
Marriage, it was a time of the youngest age of marriage across the country.
College, it did a lot to get men into college more than even the return of the WWII vets.
National Guard, they fought for positions in the National Guard back then, they knew they wouldn't be going overseas. It was a nasty system of the rich and the powerful getting in while the poor and uneducated could count on being cannon fodder, and yes, thats what they were called.
I suppose you could ask Bush and Cheney, they would have first hand knowlege.

Considering the fact that there was no internet we did remarkably well in spreading the news and the methods.
A few left the country, but the vast majority used the above methods.

I agree.....liberals. Or.......maybe grandmothers......that don't want their grand-babies to have to go to war. I'm very conservative, patriotic, and pro military, but if they start up a draft again, I will have a hard time sending my son off to war if he doesn't want to go. Sorry......but that's true. I'm not proud of it, but I think I might want to help him evade the draft too and I'm sure my mom (his grandmother would agree). With that said, God Bless our military men!

Except there isn't a draft in effect...I'm confused.

Unless you mean the various churches out there.
