I hate to be the girl who defends this guy but maybe he is just looking for a certain type of girl. That question would give him a good idea of how often he would get some in a relationship with you. I don't think its too personal at all. Dates are all about getting to know someone. If he continued about details then I would be worried but I think he's just feeling you out anf trying to get to know you.

ok---what's the big deal? Are you still stuck in the 90's? Have you not dated in a while? It's totally different since you probally have dated. I've been on the dating thing for the past few years and this is normal. It's general convo no days. You are an adult. IF i was him and you told me that, I might have ended then. He was just trying to feel you out not see if you are a easy lay. Really don't be so uptight about you sexual life. That is a valid health question.
If you seem to be a "nice" person, but are very promiscuous he should know because he endangers his health with you.
Plus, its also a quick way to find out if you are a prude. I think he found out his answer.

Well, I don't know....maybe he thinks you're slutty and doesn't want to catch something, LOL. At least he didn't ask it on the first date. I'd have replied (very seriously), "I've never had sex before, I'm saving myself for marriage. And I expect you to be pure as well....are you still a virgin?"
