It's rare but it's not out of the question. The main reason why most Asian people are lactose intollerant is that there isn't much dairy in the diet in Asian countries due to the fact that a large part of Asia believe that Cows are sacred. When you go so many generations without eating dairy, your bodies become intollerant of it. Since I'm assuming you live in the US or in an area with more dairy, the opposite could have happened. Years of adapting to the new eating styles and food groups. Evolution at the smallest degree

I have a very few Asian friends who are lactose tolerant. They are 2nd or 3rd generation. Lactose intollerant doesn't mean you die if you drink milk....it can be slight problems like - you get gaseous, you get zits, you get an upset stomach. I also learned that the vast majority of Asians are lactose intollerant, as are Africans.

Myself I have intollerance to certain breads. Bread allergies are the second most common food allergy after lactose intollerance. I love pizza but will pay for it the next day.

I don't believe those statistics. I know at least 3 Asian American families (including the uncles, aunts, grnadparents, and cousins) and they are not lactose intolerant.

In my years of teaching, the Asian American kids I had, were not lactose intolerant.

Now me? 2nd generation Lithuanian American? I AM lactose intolerant!! :-p

It just depends on how much milk you drink. If you've been drinking milk your whole life... you will not be lactose intolerant. Many ABC's can drink milk because they have access to it since childhood. Older Chinese people didn't have access to milk when young or for the most part a majority of their lives. They become Lacctose Intolerant.

I was born in America and have been drinking milk my whole life. Infact I like milk and it doesn't make me sick.

yes this is true because many asian cultures over thousands of years did not culture milk like Northern Asia and Europe, I would call them lactose resistant
