Hello I broke up with my Boy Friend. He will not sign off my portion of the lease. He wanted to work a shady deal where I take over for the summer months while he takes over his best friends who is going away! I told him no because he didnt want to tell the leasing office and didnt want to sign a contract! I called the leasing office but they cant do a thing unless he sign me off. I dont want to do his shady business also I dont trust him and his friend. I do feel they are pulling a fast one. I also emailed the fair housing commision in my city! Meanwhile I have to commute like 2 hours away, cuz he threw me out. Also June's rent is coming up. This guy quits his job. He is going to ruin my credit cuz I told him I'm not paying . I know I sound like a crazied person but this person is getting under my skin!

1. You are still responsible for your half of the rent, whether you live there or not. You can't just not pay. Sorry.
2. Always work out a contract when dealing with boyfriends/girlfriends/family.
3. Have the leasing office draw up the necessary paperwork and take it to him. Take nuts in hand and twist if persuasion is necessary.
And triple-p is right, he can't keep you from the property if you are on the lease.

If your name is on the lease he can't throw you out. Contact the landlord/tenancy board in your state and file a complaint. As long as your name is on the lease, pay your half of the rent anyway, not only are you required to, it will only make you look good.
I would complain to the leasing office again, tell them he won't sign off but he forced you out of the apartment. They should really be intervening, if they don't, try reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
If nothing works, and his "shady deal" involves his name being removed from the lease, I would do it and cut your losses. You will have a rough time for a bit, but at least his name would be off the lease and you wouldn't have to deal with him anymore.

You don't have a lot of choices. You can either move back in with him until the lease is up. Get him to sign you off the lease. Or find another roommate to take his spot. Unfortunately, you have ended up in a bad situation. Learn from it.

He can't throw you out if you are on the lease, at least, not legally. Sounds like you need to get an attorney. It might cost money, but you can sue him to get it back. It sounds like you have a pretty good case. Good luck!

1) Move back in. He cannot legally throw you out.
2) If he won't let you back in, make sure the landlord knows that, because it's called an illegal lockout. AS long as the landlord backs you up, you can say that you stopped paying rent because you were not given access to the property.
3) PAY THE RENT and sue his a$$ for it later. Don't let him ruin your credit, you can get the money back later.
