move to LA, that's my best advice to you.
but if you can't do that....i live in a building full of movie producers and here's what they tell me after i turn down their offers [i don't want to be an actress]....
sell yourself, not in a rude way, people in the industry expect you too. like anything else, you have to take the time to get to know the people in the business as much as possible, they will start to remember you... and if you really want it, you will give every person who knows someone, that knows someone, your head shot.
the only experience they care about is real experience... not school... so try your hardest to get some work, and then when you do, try your hardest to get a reel of it.
i had a friend who had one line in "walk the line", until he got the reel he got nothing else.
and the girl above who told you "if you look the part"... she is totally right. but also, you gotta deliver in the audition.
and lastly...DON'T GIVE UP! you are trying to do one of the hardest careers out there. so many people want it, it's about how badly you want it, what you would do, how far you will go... the natural process of the industry weeds people out who don't want it whole-heartedly.
Good Luck to you!

You have plenty of time. Continue to perform whenever you can in school, community theatre. Perhaps you can invite an agent to your shows. Take some other types of classes that interest you like fencing, voice, ballet, gymnastics, or art to make you a well-rounded person.
If you want to work toward your goal, do well in school, and start looking into reputable acting colleges. Like you said, there is a lot of competition in the field. The ones who stand out are the trained, educated actresses.
Isn't there a lot of film work that goes on in Toronto- see if you can do extra work from time to time. Good luck.
Oh, and never pay an agent anything until you've booked a job through them. They only get a percentage of any acting job they've helped you book.

agents look for what makes you different from the other 100000 13 year olds looking for agents and trying to act. also read plays, watch movies (good ones), go to plays and musicals (good ones), and try to take in as much as you can. I learned more about acting by reading plays then i ever did in any class. also anytime you go to an audition, even if you don't get called back, think about sending the company or whoever held the audition a thank you card with a wallet size headshot. they'll remember you that way and the next time they might have something for you.

i'm trying to be an actress too
so i was asking a casting director what they really look for.
it DOESNT matter how many billion other 13 yr olds r trying. if u look the part, u'll get it. but if u dont get it, keep trying. NEVER give up. and p.s. they really dont care if u've been in school plays just so u kno

I used to grant countless possibilities and attractiveness why i became consistently getting stepped on and used. I not often provide something better than a 2d threat till you're an particularly close and depended on confidant.

You have to perform so they can see your work. They are not going to represent you as a client, unless they know you can act, and by acting, you must be in a stage play.
Audition and book a role, in a play and invite agents to see you perform in the production.

Persistence. Be determined. Take any kind of job that you can put on a resume (even freebies). Learn to take instructions well. See problems as challenges. Repeat after me: I don't know everything (yet). Good luck.
