Peer pressure is actually internal.
Peer pressure is when we are too conscious of what others think and do and as a result do what is necessary to conform. Peer pressure is the unwillingness to be different, or to be singled out of a group -- whatever the group and whatever the peer group happens to be.
Peer pressure resolves the issue of isolation and ostracism for a species that generally fears rejection and abandonment.

Peer Pressure is the pressure from others around you to do what they are doing. Say they told you they all had designer purses and you went out and bought one too. That would be peer pressure.

Peer = friend or acquaintance (doesn't have to be same age or anything like that just someone you like or have something in common with) Pressure = influence Peer pressure= influence of a friend or acquaintance Peer pressure is when a friend influences you to do something you wouldn't (normally) do. Like if you don't really drink and after school one friend says "hey, lets all go to the pub/bar/restaurant for a bit" and you're like yeah that seems okay.. but when you get there he/she wants everyone to order an alcoholic drink. Even though you don't drink you agree to do so because you don't want to be 'left out' or picked on for not following the "peer" or group's actions and want the peer or group to like you. If a complete stranger (some one you don't know and have nothing in common with) did the same thing you'd tell them to get lost. Like if someone came up to you in the street and asked you if you'd like to go (but they are like 50 years older than you and nasty looking, dirty, smelly, etc. and they're not your professor or anyone that you or your family knows) you wouldn't be influenced to go because you don't really care what they think about you.

Peer pressure is when people that your associated with do things and you think you should be doing them. Or, when you see something on tv or magazines and you think it's ok to do the same, that is peer pressure.
Your peers are usually somebody who is slightly older than yourself.

Peer Pressure is when a person who's actions are influenced by another person or people of the same age or same class.
The most common case is smoking. A non-smoker may not feel part of his group of other friends who do smoke, so he will take it up as well.

Yours 'peers' are people of your group, so if you are a teenager they would be your teenage friends, my peers are fellow pensioners, ha ha !!!, peer pressure is when those friends push you into doing things, for example smoking , drinking or so on, putting their pressure on you , hope it helps !!!!!!

Temptation that can become a personal problem by choice because the person either has been told it's wrong to do by the authority in thier lives or already knows it's wrong. Personally I think it's nothing but an excuse for people who justify the negative behavior in others or the person doing so to use as a front = making the negative choice and then blame-shifting. If anyone can blame-shift they know their behavior is wrong enough to want to actively pass it off to someone else.
People aren't capable of hiding from themselves no matter how many excuses or verbal games they play.

example of peer pressure : You're out with a group of mates and they want you to drink some booze, you're only 14, you know you shouldn't but your mates are egging you on, so you do it because you think it makes you look better in front of them.
Just 1 example...yes I was that person :D 20 yrs ago.

If you feel pressured into doing things by your friends (peers), or if YOU feel you HAVE to do certain things to stay friends with them, so they think your cool.
Classics are taking up smoking, getting drunk or stealing.

a job is a good example of peer pressure when your boss dumps a heavy work load onto you with time constraints this can be very stressful and could push you to your limit and could affect your overall job performance.
