Dye free, perfume free Eucerin lotion is best. My dad is a dermatologist and he always brings me Eucerin Daily replenishing lotion for my babies/kids. I slather them in Eicerin after the bath, and in the morning when I change them out of their pajamas.
You might want to try Dove unscented soap. Most babies skin is so sensitive they can't tolerate any perfumes of dyes in soap, laundry detergents, fabric softeners or lotions. Go dye free & perfume free.
I like Tide Free and unscented Downy for all of our clothes. We have reduced all of the itching and hives by using Eucerin after the bath, Dove unscented soaps, Tide free and Downy unscented.
Good luck with your new baby boy, sugar.

Stop using the Johnsons. It is high in alkaline and can dry the skin even more. Try using Aqauphor or Eucerin cream on him. It will work better and lock in the moisture to his skin. Johnson's does not do that.
For babies with dry skin or eczema this is the recommendation. Also, you do not have to bathe him everyday, every 2-3 days is fine and after the bath lube him up within 3 minutes of drying him and it will keep him so moist! Also, no Johnsons soap, use Dove bar soap.
Good Luck

This is completely normal, they shed the skin that was in the uterus, They can peel for months, my 6 month old peeled almost head to toe for the first 3months. On his scalp I used Johnson & Johnson oil gel, you apply it and rub it in then wash it out or it can make it worse. I used Aveeno baby wash and lotion it made a huge diffrence, it has no perfume which can sometimes irritate their delicate skin.
Do not worry it is compleltey normal. Enjoy your baby.

My son is 5 1/2 months old and has eczema that we have been battling for as long as I can remember. The doctor told me to actually stay away from lotions. They have alcohol in them which dry the skin out even more than before. He reccommended to me that I use Baby Oil. I've been using it for the last month, at least, and his skin is so much softer. And, as the name shows, its safe for Babies. You don't have to worry about what it can do - they gave it to me at the hospital.
Hope that helps and good luck!

My daughter had the same thing. The pediatrician recommended eucerin lotion. He also advised us to use Cetaphil soap and lotion. That is a little pricey for soap but really did the trick. It is formulated without all the perfumes and dyes most soaps have. It will clear up. Dont worry.

I doubt that it's anything to worry about. Maybe you could try the baby oil, or, when my kids were small pediatricians used to recommend an expensive lotion called Eucerin, for babies. Also, the soap you are using could be irritating him. I couldn't use soap on my son till he was a year old! I had to wash his hair holding him over the tub so the shampoo wouldn't get on his body!

It is normal, well at least I know both of my girls did. The lotion I like the best is Aveeno. My kids are now 6 and 8 and have sensitive skin and it is great!!! It's the only kind we use and it is not greasy at all. Congratulations by the way.

This is completely normal. All babies peel alot within the 1st 3 weeks. It's nothing to worry about. For his/her comfort I would use a lotion to prevent itching that is suitable for newborns. Good Luck!

It is perfectly normal. All babies skin peels off the first few weeks. Try baby-lotion without perfume, this irritates their skin and causes more peeling of the skin. At least that's what my daughter's pediatrician told me. She said to try Vaseline... not too much though. Very little to add moisture.
