I need to find an audio/video system. Is it possible to have one with closed captioning? Is there a system that can automatically transcribe when the cd or dvd is put in instead of having a transcriber to do the transcribing? The system is for a professional business (no medical business).

The problem here is... What are you REALLY after?

You do realize that there's someone at the keyboard actually TYPING the text that's transmitted with closed captioning, right? That's why there's typos and such, esp. at live programs with closed captioning.

As for DVD subtitles, those are placed by the manufacturer as "picture overlays". However, it is possible to have software programs, such as SubRip, to turn them into regular text on a PC.

However, from your description, it sounds like you want a computer system that when you put in a lecture's audio CD, you hit play, and the computer will spit out a file of all the words in that lecture, all typed up.

Sorry, but the technology isn't quite there yet.
