I wouldn't recommend it, even though it might look nice. For one, bettas are tropical and need warmer temperature than they'd get in a bowl, particularly if the reception hall is airconditioned. Secondly, there's a lot of activity around the tables and the fish would be stressed. When they're upset, they can jump. Would you really want to have a betta flopping around on someone's food plate? And third, what happens after the reception? Someone needs to take the fish who can provide a proper home and care.

You could use them as centerpieces, but consider the cost of each fish, bowl and necessities for each; then if by some off chance someone sticks something in the bowl and the fish die. Not a great thing to see at a wedding, esp your own. Then of course what will you do with all the fish at the end of the reception.

That depends, what are you going to do with them afterwards? I'm assuming you're wanting to use males since they are the best looking. You can't put them together afterwards because they'll try to kill each other. I'd be willing to bet that not everyone there is going to want a fish. If you're planning on killing the fish after the reception, then the answer would be NO! It's a neat idea, but pretty hard on the poor fish.

a wedding is usually a day you should be able to pick out all the details the way you want them and not worry what others think. i think fish is a unique idea and would be interesting, though, fighting fish may not be the ideal fish, since it is an aggressive animal that could set the tone for the couple. there are some nice goldfish with long fins that have a variety of colors and would allow for more than one fish in the container. i personally would find that more appealing.

It could be ok if you give them a large enough bowl and fresh water at the beginning of the reception. Contrary to popular belief, bettas do not enjoy living in tiny little cups or bowls, and actually require about a gallon of water per betta. It is cruel for bettas to swim around in there own waste without filtration or enough water to dilute the waste. Will these be center pieces for each table at the reception? If so, what will you do with them after the reception??

No this is a bad idea - instead you should have cute little puppies in foot square glass boxes as table centres.

Oh you think thats cruel?
So it doing the equivalent to the poor Bettas.

Animal abuse - just the way to start a marriage?

I've walked out of weddings where this was done - and I was the official photographer! It is part of my terms/contract that I reserve the right to refuse services if any animals are mistreated as part of the wedding arrangements.

If you have a way of storing them - they don't need a filter, but do need to be kept at 70 degrees, so you need heaters if they will be in a room with AC. You can't store then all in one tank, or even where they can see each other or they will stress out - how pretty will a floating fish be at your reception - do you want the guests to focus on you or the fish?! It wouldn't be worth the cost to me - but I had a friend try it. She spent the last hour trying to get people to take them home, people couldn't because they were traveling and she ended up having to get them transported back etc etc!! She really regrets her choice.

PLEASE don't do it. bettas are TROPICAL fish that should be in water that about 80°F. they poop just like any other fish, so despite popular belief they still need a filter as much as any other fish.

the only way this would be OKAY (and that's okay, not great or even good) is if after the wedding each has a home willing to give it a tank of AT LEAST 2.5gallons of filtered heated water. being taken to the wedding, put in a vase, taken out of the vase and transported to a new home will be extremely stressful to the fish and that alone is likely to kill it. bettas are abused enough thanks to the myths that they like living in those vases, please don't contribute (in mass amounts at that) to the abuse.

No, they are fish and should be considered pets not decorations. Most of them will just be condemned to death anyway.

When I was little my Aunts wedding had bettas in these vases on every table. After the wedding the people who brought all of them in, just flushed them all.

If it's your wedding, then it's YOUR choice! If you plan on letting people take them home after the reception is over, make sure that they will be able to care for the fish properly. I think it's a lovely idea!
