My first thought was to invite everyone in my street over for a get-to-know each other party, but I've got a small place, and really don't want to have to spend a lot of time preparing food/serving a large group of people I don't know. Any suggestions?

Have an outside get-together, like a block party. If you have a driveway or yard that could host your neighbors, use that. Otherwise, ask your new neighbors where a good location might be. Just initiating that conversation with some of your neighbors might help you feel more connected. Make sure to ask them for help (don't foot the bill)!

If you are organizing the event, you shouldn't have to cover the costs. Try splitting up the effort (e.g. get someone to bring their volleyball net and equipment, get someone else to organize who will bring what for a potluck, etc.)

Kudos to you for this wonderful idea, well-connected communities are essential to local safety and well-being.

send a flyer out to your neighbors for a pot luck dinner/ street party!!!

Have everyone chip in so you can all get to know each other without being broke.

Make sure you put your name and number as a contact and list the items needed for the party. Someone can bring plates, cups, tables, drinks food, etc.....

Keep a list of names and what items they offer to bring so that you can let others know what's still needed.

You can bake a couple of cakes and decorate it with
" Welcome friends and Neighbors" on it so they all feel special.

Kids can help with signs.

Have fun!!!

Have a block party in a common area. Tell everyone to bring something.

Set up a keg of beer in the driveway one nice evening. Hand out beer to anyone that walks by, and chat 'em up.

Garage sales are pretty good ideas. You can get rid of anything you have that you don't like and you can meet the folks who stop by.
