Hug an ugly person!
Just kidding. Seriously, though, just try. Next time you feel yourself coming to a snap judgement, try and think harder about it. Of course, someone you think is ugly (I'm assuming you mean physically superficial) might actually be a horrible person, but just ask yourself if you have all the information you need for the judgment you're making.
That being said, you probably shouldn't beat yourself up over it. A quick glance around will reveal that the world is full of people who will tell you that pretty people are mean and stupid, that being smart inherently makes you good, that being good means you're a lovely person, that believing their religion makes you wonderful. All of those are superficial snap judgments, too, and most of them are bandied about by people who pretend that they're actually open-minded.
So if you really want to get over it, have at it, but don't let yourself feel forced to do so by other people - the odds are good that they're just as superficial and judgmental, too.

The best reality check for those "superficial"people out there is to go through something major and see who is there for you in the end. Most of those so called friends wont be there, and you'll have a REAL friend that stood by you when the goin got tough. All the money in the world cant buy you true friendship or happiness. You can have all those name brands and designer clother....Id rather have my best friend.

Getting rid of the ego/ pride. To find love within. When you are able to fully love everyone and everything, I am convinced that you become the opposite of superficial. You so desire to help others and constantly give everything to others that you dont care about yourself or your wants. You have to focus on the inside instead of the outside. If you develop a spiritual life, you stop desiring the outward things. its a process.

Don't sweat it. Most of us are concerned about appearances in one way or another.
Getting to know people at a personal level rather for the veneer that they show is fraught with problems. Ted Bundy was a nice guy -- on the surface. Many women found out differently. My professional personality is far different than my personal life. I usually tell people not to confuse the two.
Someone who is gorgeous and a jerk is someone that I can do without.

Understand why it is that you are that way. What insecurites do you have that makes you judge yourself or others in a superficial way. This really helps, then when ever you start to behave like that, stop and understand why again. It really breaks the habit.

Try doing volunteer work with people less fortunate than yourself.
You'll see how the work you do really makes a difference in other peoples lives & it gives you a chance to think about real problems rather that superficial ones.
Helping homeless children will really put things in
to prespective.

Hmm well I think everyone is a little superficial naturally. But try to not judge people based simply on materialistic details. I find I get involved with a lot of the wrong people when I do that. Try to see people for their inner beauty as well. : )

First off stop watching TV and movies then get out into the real world. Take a walk in a public park and get to know the people who you would never think to talk to....... People selling stuff out of a cart can be very interesting they see everything.....

Why do you want to stop? Are you trying to live up to someone else's standards? I for one am pretty shallow and superficial, and I accept it.
