not much....the Economist recently had a story on pollution at the Port of Long Beach...they are going to start supplying "shore power" electrical hookups ( think REALLY BIG and THICK extension cords) so ships can shut off their engines and generators in port......meanwhile at sea there's little being done....this would fall under the category of the UN International Maritime Organization ( www.imo.org) which is great on talk and great on getting First World compliance but not so good on Third World compliance with safety issues......the only change with ships would come if nations or groups like say, the EU, set pollution emission controls on ships in their waters,like car emissions....fairly soon most ships would have to have cleaner burning engines if they wanted to trade with that country.......

Haven't u heard that CO2 is not a pollutant .
