We have one daughter already and her name is Amara. I love the name and want something that will compliment it for our second child. I want a unique name and he doesn't want anything long (more than 6 letters) or too ethnic but our daughters are mixed black and white. Please give me some ideas because I am all out.

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I was so tired of looking online and in books everything just started to look the same. Believe it or not I really went home from work and my husband and I went through all the name ideas. We finally just decided to compromise on Asia Rene. Rene really is better as a middle name. Thanks again.

Compromise? Lilliana Rene? I don't know. Rene suits well as a middle name. Good luck.

My husband and I are in the same situation, we cannot agree on anything. I asked the same question, we like modern, unique names-see my question for more help! Amara is a very beautiful name. I think a name that would compliment it well would be Anaya (AN-EYE-YA). You may not want to stick with the same first letter as your first child, it's just a suggestion. Good luck!

i am sure you have gone through the baby name books a hundred time or more so i wouldn't give you any new names. personally i think Erica would compliment Amara the best. my sisiter's name is Erica, and for a long time she spelled it Eryca. Have you tried to change the spelling of it?

Lilliana is very adorable, you can call her Lily.
What about:
Torie Rose
Arianna Renee (your husband wants Renee!)
Jalyssa Mae
Jalina Michelle
Jayda Marie
Jasmine
Hayden
Arlie
Westyn
Brynn
Charlie
Good Luck!

I like Ava the best. It is a name he likes and fits your criteria, too.
Uncommon is better than unique-it is a pain in the neck.
Why does it have to be ethnic, just because they are mixed?
Maybe he is sick of the whole subject. Give it a rest awhile.
You are not having twins-you could name your 2nd daughter Sydney-and let HER be unique-not her name.

Too late for the ehnic thing with a name like Amara. But anyway, why don't you pick a family name. It could be his mothers maiden name or your maiden name. Something like that. This way, the child will have a meaning and connection to their roots.

Honestly I love Ava and I think it goes nicely w/ Amara maybe if you don't hate the name Ava you could compromise with him allowing Ava to be the first name his choice and then the middle name could be your choice of the ones you named
Personally I like Ava Kiara and then you could call her the middle name as just your special name for her.
Good Luck and it will work itself out eventually. ;~)
