Most of the time, when I am doing something I really don't want to do, it is because of:
1. an obligation...either to family, friends, relatives, etc.
2. a promise I made on the spur of the moment without giving thought to the object of the promise.
3. LOL...hate admitting this...because I am bored and want to do something, even something I hate, rather than be bored!
4. because it is expected of me
5. because of the warmth and affection I feel for a person, I do it.
Don't get me wrong...I'm far from a self-sacrificing, martyr type of person. If I truly don't want to do something, I have been known to say I won't. I've let people down, made them mad and lost friends because of it. guess as I age I mellow, because I will do that dreaded thing now....sometimes.....
As for reasons not to do what I don't want to do...there is only one, and I'm not afraid to use it...it's
1. Because I really don't want to. Followed by a qualifier...I don't like that restaurant...I don't enjoy horror movies...etc.

The best reason would be that doing something that you don't want to do is that it's immoral or injurious to yourself or someone else or the environment.
Another good reason is that pleasing people all the time will only lead to resentment on your part and disrespect on theirs.
There are other reasons such as lack of knowlege, laziness, fear, timidity, lack of time, or not wanting to look silly.

changing diapers, it has to be done if you have a child, but it definetly isnt something people enjoy doing. Everyday we do things we dont want to do. It is a part of life and growing, learning to be selfless. When you have children you do a lot of things you dont want to do because it is good for them. I use children as an example because they take the most work from a person. You have to learn to be selfless to raise a child, and it is an example of how we should treat everyone.

There are quiet a few reasons people do things they don't want to do: their guilted into it, forced into it, just too passive to disagree with doing it, one good one is that your too lazy to argue with doing it, but there is also pity, compassion, respect, love. Of course as usual everyone has an excuse for everything, specially me so I could go on and on.

There's always chores that have to be done that no one likes...but I like to just get them out of the way so they're done, and they're off my mind. So, I usually deal with pain-in-the-neck stuff first, then I can relax more as the chore list goes on.

Well, if some one you care asks you to do something you do it. You do what you are asked, because it can show respect for elders, compassion for the aged, concern for your own future, and it shows that you value your relationship with some person. or fear, fear of losing a friend or loved one.
