Nope, "gay" animals are very, very rare.

Now hear me out, because it is truth. You certainly WILL find male dogs humping male dogs, etc. The primary difference is that when a male dog humps a male dog, he has no other place for sexual release, as in there is no available female dog in heat. Put a female dog, in heat, in a pen and you will watch all kinds of males humping males, because they can't get at the female that has their motor revving. Ask any dog breeder. When my german shepherd was in heat, because we had this big fence with a deep foundation, the neighborhood dogs couldn't get to her. There were male dogs humping male dogs all over the place, especially when the wind blew her scent their way.

Same sex copulation in animals, beyond the two points in the previous, can be an ingrained instinct override. B. F. Skinner did all sorts of things to show how animals learned parts of their behavior that overrode instinctive behavior. Read it, go to the psychology section and wade through his studies.

Humans, however, have similar experiences. There was an episode of Law & Order in this recent season where a men's poker party became an opportunity for sexual release when the wives back home were showing very little interes. I've had two men approach me, propositioning, and when I asked why they were asking me, as one said, "I'd ask anyone since I'm not getting it from the mrs."

Do your thumbs down all you want, but I'm speaking truth here.

Oh, I forgot to mention, when thinking about one of my girl friend's male dog humping my leg, there is also the territorial dominance thing at play. Sometimes it is seen in a dog rolling over to expose a belly in submission, sometimes a dog humps another in a show of dominance. Can't forget that dynamic, you see it in history where the "rape" goes with "pillage." Humans exercise domination in that way too. Consider the stories, both true and those embellished by Hollywood, homosexuality in prisons if rife--there are no females to take it to, and some is done in a show of control and domination.
