a lot of stuff happens due to the choices people make. Cause and effect.
For example: if a person only eats fatty foods, and does not exercise, they might get diabetes or have heart problems.
If someone is driving their car and they're on the phone, the likelihood of them getting in an accident is greater.
so while people want to say: "there was no reason for this tragedy to happen" What they really mean (often) is "This was an avoidable tragedy"
However, some things do just happen for no discernable reason other than we live here on earth, and earth has its own rules (like you just might get killed by a tornado, or a chunk of space debris might fall on you)

Of course things happen for reasons - but those reasons don't necessarily have anything to do with you. Any sort of 'secret', 'system' or 'belief' that you can somehow affect what happens to you with your thoughts is insanity, propagated by pointing to a few singular events that 'prove' it, while ignoring billions of instances where it never worked.

it's like the age old question: why do bad things happen to good people? when good things happen, we are happy. when bad things happen, we look for explanations. when we are happy, we never ask, why am i happy? we just feel happy.
but when bad things happen, we search for clues. it is perfectly natural to do so. we want to prevent bad things as much as we can. my take on that is: by all means, let's do whatever we can for a better world.

We disagree. There doesn't have to be a reason for stuff to happen.
As long as you believe that, you will always be searching for a reason for this, that and the other. Enjoy.

According to Rhonda Byrne in her book The Secret, we each attract everything that happens to us by our thoughts. There are no accidents or coincidences.
