Its time to stop blaming the president for gas prices and hurricanes. Its time to stop blaming it on the war. Its time to look at it as it is. It's a monopoly and price gouging.
To think the gas prices are due to refineray problems is rediculous. It's not by chance the price goes up every April, goes down every August, back up a little at Thanksgiving and Christmas, then back down until April again.
Yes, we need to address global warming and the war and yada yada yada..but the gas prices should be viewed as criminal.
Gas prices are actually changing my summer vacation plans. I never thought that would be the case.
Future Mr. President. Promise you will prosecute any oil/gas companies that are doing this to us, and you will have my vote (unless its hillary..not getting my vote). You certainly wouldnt let me get away with it!

This is one of the best questions on here... How can gas companies post billion-dollar prfits while taking us to the cleaners in gas prices?! A class action suit would be a great idea!

UGH!! Gas prices are about SUPPLY AND DEMAND!! THAT'S why "the price goes up every April, goes down every August, back up a little at Thanksgiving and Christmas ..." Because when people DEMAND more, and SUPPLY is low (because the greenies haven't let us drill our own oil for decades!!), the price goes up! People drive a lot more in summer and around the holidays. AND the gas companies are NOT gouging!! YES, they are making "record profits," BUT THAT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE SELLING RECORD AMOUNTS OF GAS!!!! They are making the SAME AMOUNT per gallon as before. If you want to know who's gouging - LOOK AT THE GOVERNMENT WHO IS STEALING MORE IN TAXES THAN THE OIL COMPANIES MAKE, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING!! Why can't people get this through their heads?!! Why oh why oh why??!!!!! Good Lord!

AND WHY AREN'T YOU ANGRY ABOUT THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING ELSE HAS GONE UP IN PRICE, ALSO?! Huh? WHY?!! I'll tell you why -- it's because the media only focuses on gas prices! If they focused on the rising cost of bottled water (which, like gas, is also rising), people would be barking about that! So why don't I hear anyone say anything good when the price comes down a little? Hmmm? God help me, I am soooooo sick of hearing people whine about gas prices!! But then, you can't go by me, 'cause I'm sick of hearing people bark and whine about EVERY LITTLE THING THESE DAYS!! You've got it pretty G.D. good in this country, dude!! Pretty good! Freedom, opportunity out the @ss, even the poor households in the U.S. are better off than the poor in most other countries! How about you try to appreciate what you have! Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

No AG will take the responsibility of a class action suit because they have no balls.

There have been no laws broken by Big Gas! Moral law is a different animal but how will you prosecute?

I have been using the old way for a long time now. Don't store gas in your car/vehicle. I have 7 gas stations near my house and I get 5 gals of gas or what ever that will take me to my destination and back, I make no unnecessary trips. And I am actively seeking a nice buggy and horse combo. (seriously!)

I see many of my neighbors (retirement village) car-pooling and doing the same thing on gas purchases.

The last time we did this was earlier this year when there was a sudden increase in the price of gas. Together there are approximately 5000 retirees living in12 retirement villages nearby. When the station operators were told what was going on they all reduced their prices by 12 cents per gallon and the rest of the market caught up with them.

Its my understanding this hickup is now caused by state and county officials getting their share by temporarily raising taxes. I have made several calls to county office holders who do a lot of "Humina, humina, uhh, er, a, uh just like the cat's got their tongues. No answers just platitudes.

The war in the Middle East has everything to do with the price of a barrel of oil. Watch the news and when something real nasty happens over there that can have an effect on oil production, the price per barrel RISES. Hurricanes can also have an effect on gas prices. Lets not forget that the aging refineries here in the U.S. are a disaster waiting to happen. They are one good fire or one nasty hurricane away from you walking to work.

P.S. I am not the one that is giving HUGE subsidies to the oil companies... can you guess WHO is?

Because a global commodity is affected by global events and world leaders.

The profit margin for oil is in the 10% range. This is very low compared to most commodities.

We need to do whatever it takes to end dependence on foreign oil. We have many years' supply in ANWR, which we could use while we made alternate energy supplies available and inexpensive. (United States answer)

There should be! I think you are right. I am tired of all the lame excuses and some people actually believe this stuff, like we have fewer refineries-what bullsh**t! When the Exxon and Mobil companies post their profits we'll see evidence of being ripped off, the worst part is it hurts the lower wage earners most.

There is no such thing as "price gouging" in a free market system. It's called supply and demand! Having said that, there needs to be more refineries built as well as more oil exploration. We have to get away from being dependent on foreign oil.
