Impeachment in the United States is an expressed power of the legislature which allows for formal charges to be brought against a civil officer of government for conduct committed in office. The actual trial on those charges, and subsequent removal of an official on conviction on those charges is separate from the act of impeachment itself: impeachment is analogous to indictment in regular court proceedings, trial by the other house is analogous to the trial before judge and jury in regular courts. Typically, the lower house of the legislature will impeach the official and the upper house will conduct the trial.

At the Federal level, the House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching the President, Vice President and all other civil officers of the United States. Officials can be impeached for: "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." The United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. The removal of impeached officials is automatic upon conviction in the Senate.

Now....hopefully....we understand the difference between "impeachment" and "conviction" where THEN the offical would be removed from office!

No, because we all know that Bush & Cheney aren't going to be impeached, and even if they were to be impeached, it wouldn't be at the same time, and then either Cheney would become Prez and nominate a new VP or else Bush would nominate a new VP.

Impeachment won't make Pelosi the President. That would only occur if both the Prez & VP were to both die or become incapable of doing the job within a very short period of time.

Personally - I dislike her because she is a political opportunist who accepted political contributions in return for denying poor people a minimum wage increase.

Another issue I have with her is that during her middle east trip she visited dictators but refused to talk to any elected leaders.

BTW - have the Democrats told us what their plan for protecting us from terrorists is yet?

No - she's a political imbecile that is a puppet for socialist elites seeking to kill our Constitution and dissolve our Sovereignty.

No. I don't hate her, I dislike her politics; she is a baby killer. It is the same reason I dislike Giuliani.
