There is lots of nonsense talked about the words '*****' and 'n!gger'. When I was a boy in the 1950's the first was used as a description of a type of people. There were caucasian, mongol, chinese, *****, aboriginal and indian. As we entered more 'politically correct' times (how I hate P C) the word was replaced by 'black' as ***** was deemed offensive for what reason I could never work out.

The word 'n!gger' has, like many other words, been changed over time. It originated during the American Civil War when many black slaves escaped to the North. Once there many enlisted as volunteers to fight against the South and obtain freedom for their brothers who were still enslaved. Such volunteers were formed into regiments of all black soldiers and described as 'negre', or black. When the Confederates found out about these regiments their army was given the order of ;'No prisoners from Negre regiments'. Thus to fight in such a regiment meant either victory or death. All captured Negre soldiers were executed.. Thus to be a 'Negre' was a great honour and showed exceptional bravery. White soldiers, if captured, became prisoners. After the war ex-Negres were treated with courtesy and respect and to be described as a 'Negre' was a great compliment. Sadly the word became corrupted with time until it became 'n!gger' and all black people were so-called. Today it is considered an insult to use the word, but it is useful to remember the brave and courageous men who first earned the title. The freedom of their descendants is a direct result of their actions. I salute them

"*****" is nothing more than the word "black" in Spanish. It became undesirable due to the colloquialism derived from it (the "n" word)

Blacks refer to each other using the "n" word for two reasons. The first reason is because they can and no body can say anything. The second reason is because it is a derogatory adjective. It's equivalent to a mexican calling another mexican an "wetbakk" or "cholo".

The reason it's politically incorrect for white people to use the "n" word, but it's ok for anyone to call white people by any name they can think of is because evolution presumes that white people are higher on the evolutionary ladder than everybody else. The rationalle is that since white people ARE superior, calling names doesn't change things, but because blacks, hispanics, etc. ARE inferior, it's impolite to remind them of that.

Personally, I don't believe in evolution. I believe both the Bible and the Constition when it says "All men are created equal".

I didn't find "*****" to be offensive...Per Se! Since it properly describes someone who is *******...darker skinned and No? Not necessarily African American's either! I certainly wouldn't be too upset, about someone describing my Race as Caucasiod or Mongoloid either! How about the United ***** College Fund? Was that such a negative entity? Or is it really because the word *****...border's on the usage of the "N" word? Political Correctness tries to do the right and fair thing...But? It just gets too carried away, and often goes off into the Opposite Extreme's of the Spectrum! If you want to be realistic...everyone is a "Person of Colour" but we seem to have focused that into a certain group of people's? Whether a Black person,or an Italian person and so on...lets you call them the "N" word or the "W" word or whatever...depends on whether your really their friend,or an insulting stranger! Let us remember Gang...that in todays Modern World of thinking "A mind is a Terrible Thing" please give generously!

Kamen assumes that feminists will be women...and feminism is the act of a woman standing up for herself. My suggestion would be to eliminate the 'female' connotation out of the word and the movement. A move for true equality for ALL would see far more members and participants, and would less likely be subject to ignorant and stereotypical criticisms.

The word "*****" means black in Spanish, it is politically incorrect because people in America don't say it the correct way it should be said in the Spanish language.

Now, I don't really know why my people call themselves that, I for one don't do that.

In the Dambusters film Guy Gibsons dog is called the N word. Every time the film is shown I wonder whether they will over dub it.

Most Black people don't even know what offends them. Its just a word that they put out there so white people can't say it or else. But they call each other that. I just call them black people. no offence there.

i don't know why ***** became politically incorrect.

the "n" word, which has been deemed as a racist term, is used interchangably with white/ blacks kids. The term nowadays refers to your "homie" . It is not intended to be racist.
