Drinking I gave up.
Smoking, I came REAL close (3 months) the end of last year, but my co-workers begged me to start again because I was so cranky they were scared of me...lol.
Like everything, you just have to keep trying! If you want it bad enough, you will do it!
I have faith in you!!

Life sometimes is so full of trials that bad habits are hard to deal with. Now I have tried quitting smoking numerous times and have failed. But as the old saying goes, " never give up trying". Have a good day, and I'm going out for a smoke.

I understand where you are coming from because anything I pick up I have difficulty "putting down".The only way I have been successful with quitting both of these things for any long period of time(7 years once) (5 years once) is sorry to say"cold turkey. It's so easy to tell yourself oh I will only have 2 drinks and 10 cigarettes a day so I can still play the game so to speak, for me that doesn't work and it sneaks up fast and bites me in the A** every time. Before you know it I could care less about quitting either and I am off and running,or rolling for long periods of time, If it helps at all I can tell you that if you drink even one drink your going to want to smoke, because the two go hand in hand.Quitting smoking is really only hard for the first 5 days, and then if you don't touch it your home free.It doesn't work for me to limit myself to anything because Da*n it,I can not get enough of anything,I would rather do without. The best thing I can suggest to fill the smoking void is a healthier way of eating with exercise,it boosts your self esteem and your confidence and you start focusing your energies in a positive way.(every time you want to smoke,go for a nice long walk) I know its switching up addictions, but hey I am an addict and that's the way I know how to do it!

well lucky for you there are soooo many medications on the market to help you quit your habit. Many of them allow you to taper your habit without stress and cravings and do not cost you anymore than the pack of cigarettes would! You can even do it for FREE as part of research... I included the link below along with other sites to help you if you are really serious. I am actually a nurse and the long term effects of smoking on your body is just enormous... I see far too many people who are very ill at age 40 and 50 due to their habit. See, my habit is procrastination... and there arent many good solutions to fix that :(

My bad habit is cursing - especially when I'm driving. Everyday I wake up and tell myself I'm NOT going to cuss and everyday I fail.

Yes, smoking is my enemy. I have tried so many times and have made it up to 2 years on one of the attempts, but the craving never goes away and something always triggers me to take it back up.

if you want to quit smoking, you pretty much have to give up drinking.... that's where I failed!
I couldnt give up both, so i just started to work out more and eat healthier to make up for all the obvious damage going on

You may want to treat them as addictions and not merely bad habits.
