That's not a big thing nor issue. I know plenty of Red Sox and Yankee fans that get along just fine. The media and some people like to say the two could never correspond with each other is exaggerated.

Opening Day and opening night games are sellouts no matter what. Why waste a guaranteed big-selling matchup on Opening Day? The Red Sox and Yankees* have played each other in the opening series now and again, but every year would be less interesting. And, remember, they each have to play the other 12 AL members eventually (and the NL teams, but interleague doesn't start until May). ----- * Remember, "Red Sox and Yankees" is the correct term. Never write "Yankees and Red Sox"; always write "Red Sox and Yankees". And now you know.

Being a Red Sox fan there is nothing I like to see more in the paper than a NYY loss. But I too think we take things way too seriously. I mean I think we as fans take the rivialry more serious than the players do. You see those guys shaking hands and stuff before the game, in the stands we are fighting, something wrong there.

No, you should not be disowned. You are growing up. The rivalry shouldn't be taken so seriously that you will 100% dislike someone because they like the Red Sox, and the same goes towards Yankee fans for Red Sox fans. That is almost like disliking someone for the color of their skin. I am a Red Sox fan, and I have friends who are Yankee fans. I don't like the overly obnoxious, die-hard idiot fans who yell at me just because I like the Sox. But I will like a NY fan who yells at me, then comes over and shakes my hand and says good game. THAT is worthy of respect and friendship. Heck, as a Sox fan I dated a Mets fan. We had our times when we threw 1986 around, but then we made up...and it was sweet. To think I could have missed that just because she was a Mets fan makes me laugh.

How do I answer this...there are hot girls everywhere, the trick is finding them. I'm a die-hard RS fan and married a Yankee female...after some games we don't talk much but we'll still have sex. Life is good!
